Get Ready for the WPT Seminole Next Week

After handing away $500k to the winner Morten Christensen in Vienna, the World Poker Tour will continue its journey ahead to its next stop, the star studded Hollywood. The WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown will be taking place at Florida’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino between April 18 and April 23, 2012. The tour will feature just the Main Event, which is the WPT Championship Event. The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino has hosted the event even last year, when a total of 433 players participated.

Schedule of events

The major poker event at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock would be the Main Event, which began at 12:00 pm on April 18. The event will be a NL Holdem tournament with 5 levels. The buy-in for the event is $10,000. Day 2 of the championship event continues on April 9, where players have to go through 5 more levels. Day 3 and 4 will be on April 20 and 21, while Day will be on April 22. On this day, the number of players will come down to 6. The six remaining players on Day five will take part one NLH 6-handed final table event on April 23, 2012.

WPT Seminole 2011

More than 400 players competed for a prize pool of $4,156,800 last year, when Taylor von Kriegenbergh emerged as the winner and took home his first ever World Poker Tour title and cash prize of $1,122,340. The cash prize awarded was the 3rd biggest last year, while the LA Poker Classic topped with a cash prize of $1,654,120, while the $25k WPT Championship was second with $1,618,344. Besides Kriegenbergh, other winners of the event included Curt Kohlberg in the second place, who took home $586,109.

What to expect this year

According to WPT president Steve Heller, this year’s WPT event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is designed to offer the best quality poker gaming experience to the participants and the viewers. Like last year, the event will have ‘Royal Flush Girls’ this year too. In addition to that, there will be a ‘Social Bar’ that will be manned by the models and be open to visitors. Alongside the TV cameras for live telecast, the event at Seminole will also have TV Monitors, live Twitter feeds, and an Xbox connect that visitors registering at the can use.

Side events at the Seminole Hard Rock tour include a WPT players’ party, where participants and guests will be entertained at the Bongos Cuban Café, owned by Emilio and Gloria Estefan. On April 20, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will be hosting a scavenger hunt for the visitors. However, no viewers will be allowed to watch the game on Sunday, and on Monday, the number of viewers is limited.

What next

After the championship event at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, the WPT will be heading to Jacksonville in Florida, and finally to Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada, to host the WPT World Championships.
