Party Poker Premier League Poker V Announced

January 21, 2012

Party Poker just announced details about when and where the Party Poker Premier League Poker V will run. Party Poker decided that they would run the Premier League Poker V at the World Poker Tour in Vienna. The WPT Premier League V presented by PartyPoker.com will take place from April 4th – April 10th 2012 at the Montesino in Vienna. The buy-in for the event is a whopping $125,000 and only sixteen of the world’s best poker players will be allowed to participate in the Premier League Poker V.

How Will the Party Poker Premier League V Work?

Only 16 players will be able to play in the Premier League V and each player will need to pay the buy-in of $125,000. The players will be split up into two groups of 8 players. The 8 player groups will compete in four different sit and go tournaments. Players will earn points for placing in the sit and go tournaments and the top 3 players from each group will earn a spot on the final table. The 4th and 5th seeds in each group will play a best out of 3 heads-up match to determine who receives the 7th and 8th seat on the final table.

The final table is where players will have a chance to make the big bucks. There will be $200,000 added to the final table prize pool plus the winner of the final table at the Party Poker Premier League Poker V will receive a free seat into the huge $25,000 WPT World Championship tournament later this year in May. I’m sure the star studded line-up isn’t worried that much about the free seat into the WPT World Championships, but the bragging rights in this event are always a top priority for the players.

What Players Will Play in the Party Poker Premier League V?

Tony G will definitely be playing in the Premier League Poker V and I’m excited to watch him play again in this event. He always makes the event interesting with his antics at the poker table and I can’t wait to watch him. Luke Schwartz, Andy Frankenberger, Vanessa Selbst and Sam Trickett have already confirmed that they’ll be playing in the event as well this year. I’m sure the rest of the line-up will be familiar poker names and I’m excited to see who else decides to play in the Premier League V in April.

Vienna is going to be hosting thousands of poker players in April, as there are multiple events with big name appeal. Apart from the Premier League V running, the WPT Vienna Main Event will also run from April 10th – April 15th. Party Poker will also be hosting the Big Game VI for 48 consecutive hours from April 11th – April 13th.

Most of the action will be aired on Sky TV and will make its rounds through international broadcasters after the action is aired on Sky TV. Kara Scott will be covering the Premier League V and each heat will have four hours of coverage according to Party Poker.
